To document the official representation of the Late Successional Reserves and Adaptive Management Area for the Willamette National Forest.
This layer delineates the Late-Successional Reserves and Adpative Management Areas designated in the President's Plan (1994). Late-Successional Reserves are identified with an objective to protect and enhance conditions of late-successional and old-growth forest ecosystems, which serve as habitat for late-successional and old-growth forest related species including the northern spotted owl. Limited stand management is permitted, subject to review by the Regional Ecosystem Office.

President's Plan management allocations. Management areas from the 1994 NW Forest Plan. These are the management areas that were added to the 1990 Forest Plan

President's Plan harvest rates. Harvest rates for the management allocations added to the Forest Plan by the NW Forest Plan. All these allocations are no harvest areas with a zero harvest rate except the AMA. The AMA will have harvest if it meets the objectives. Since this is unknown, the rate is coded 99.

In June 1993, the Willamette NF received a digital map from the Regional Office (R6) delineating Late-Successional Reserves and Adaptive Management Areas This map covered a 3 state area. The SO GIS shop clipped this map to the forest and province boundaries, making a "best fit" to our admininstrative, wilderness and subwatershed boundaries. This layer was then sent to the Ranger Districts for review and edits. District changes were incorporated in Fall 1993. This version was sent to the Regional Office for approval which it received in spring 1994. The layer then became the official representation of the Late Successional Reserves and Adaptive Management Area for the Willamette National Forest.
